This morning, I did something I never do; I read through parts of my journal.
It all started because this is my kids' last week of school, and I wanted to write out some goals for the summer (because what kid doesn't love structured goals during summer break?). I decided to search my online journal for the word "summer" and adapt goals I've made in the past, thus eliminating the need to start from scratch. My search was successful, and I found summer goals from years past. But I also found something else.

Today is Jonathan’s and my 17th wedding anniversary, and I’m thankful to be married to him. I told someone last week that I’m more like Jesus because of him, and I think that’s the highest compliment I can give. If I could recommend one book on marriage besides the Bible, it would be this one.
These Chicken Shawarma Stuffed Pitas graced our dinner table this month, and it will not be the last time.
I’ve listened to several episodes from this counseling podcast and have found them to be sensitive, biblical, and practical. Most recently, they’ve released several episodes on eating disorders, which have been excellent.
Last year, I came across a recommendation for a hands-free dog leash that seemed helpful, so I added it to my wish list. But then I thought, “Why don’t I just attach the leash to my fanny pack?” (Now, there are a lot of answers I could give to that question, but for the moment, we’re going to call that a rhetorical question.) BEHOLD:
This post, Are Children a Blessing?, is taken from a sermon my husband preached on the same topic. 10/10.
Jonathan & I went away for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary. We explored Rhode Island for the first time, and 40 miles of biking later, we're big fans of the state. Ocean Drive, Cliff Walk, East Bay Bike Path, Borealis Coffee Company, and the Chicken Poblano soup from Stop & Shop won us over.
Things I Purchased
We needed a transportable bike pump for all the biking we’ve been doing lately, and got this little number. My husband loves how it attaches to his bike in such a nice, neat package.
This workout tank checks all the boxes for me in terms of armhole size, length, and neckline. Miracles happen, folks.
I love using a hydration bladder in my backpack, but my old one started leaking after 10+ years of use, so I got this one, WHICH HAS A CAP (unlike my old one), and I have felt so much more germ-free ever since.
I finally replaced my holey workout socks and am super pleased with these. I know I’m showing my age by refusing to get crew (or longer) socks, but whatevs. I’ve already lost all style cred with my fanny pack/dog leash combo, so we’re past caring about sock length.
Before You Leave
At the beginning of this letter, I told you that I read parts of my journal from years past. You can read the full post here, but in case you just want the last bit, here it is:
My biggest takeaway was not the struggles from yesteryear or the resemblance to struggles of today. My greatest conclusion was that the Lord carried me through those years. The thread of similarity wasn’t just my struggles; it was his faithfulness.
My friend, I hope you have seen and can testify to the Lord’s faithfulness in your life this past month. Why don’t you take a minute right now to thank him for it? And don’t stop there; tell someone else about it and encourage their heart to trust in God’s faithfulness to carry them.
Thanks so much for reading!
Christa Threlfall
In reviewing the past month, I too can say with confidence “the Lord has carried me through” with needed words to a specific situation, confirmation that I’m on the same page as is the Lord, the required patience and trust that He will let me know what is to be my next step in yet another prickly situation, wisdom as I read and dig into His forever settled word. How exciting to live in these times as His child, ever waiting to hear that trumpet🎺
